SE5:EP 4 LIPEDEMA: The Disease Affecting in 1 in 9 Women No One is Talking About

Image a disease that affects 1 in 9 women, that was identified 80 years ago and for which there is no cure.

This week we are talking about LIPEDEMA. I am honoured to have back on the podcast Lisa Duerre cofounder and CEO of RLD Group who is living with this disease, we talk about her journey to discovering she had lipedema, and what it's like to live day to day as a corporate woman with this condition. And her work to be a strong advocate for raising awareness amongst doctors and the wider community.

Sometimes we mistake Lipedema for issues of obesity and it gets labelled as the 'Fat' disease. And of course, in our fat-shaming world, the blame falls on the person.

The Key Takeaways

  • What is Lipedema

  • What are the signs and symptoms and how it affects your life

  • The roles of hormones?

  • How to get your doctor up to speed with this illness?

  • Common treatment methods for Lipedema

  • How to become part of the awareness-raising movement
