Confusion and more meno-nonsense
This time it's exercise....
This week I joined a number of women’s menopause get together and the conversation pivoted to exercise. If you thought diet was a messy mix-up of messages well exercise is going the same way.
Last week some influencer posted that exercising for more than 30 minutes raises cortisol and by default makes you fat. I couldn’t trace the post to see if they were pushing something but usually, when the science part doesn’t quite add up it’s a pretty good bet.
Then came the HRT and exercise conversation. Some doctor suggesting that women can’t exercise without taking HRT because they are too exhausted. Well nothing like a blanket statement - what if I can’t take HRT or choose not to where does that leave me?
Let’s break this down and I will start with my all-time favourite quote from my teacher Sona Fricker at Breathworks Mindfulness.
“Motion is Lotion and Movement is Medicine”
Note the word MOVEMENT, which I will talk more about in a bit.
